The Bake N Play Learning Method

We don't start with the recipe. We start with the outcome.

At Bake N Play, baking isn't the lesson. It's the vehicle that brings learning to life.

Every experience begins by asking what we want children to discover, practise or develop. From there, we create hands-on challenges that encourage children to question, make decisions, experiment, solve problems, communicate and work together.

Rather than simply showing children what to do and asking them to follow instructions, our educators create opportunities for children to think for themselves.

How the Bake N Play Learning Method Works

PURPOSE
We begin with the learning or developmental outcome we want to create.
↓
QUESTION
Children are encouraged to think before being given the answer.
↓
CHALLENGE
They investigate, make decisions, solve problems and collaborate.
↓
CREATE
Baking turns the challenge into something tangible, exciting and memorable.
↓
REFLECT
Children recognise what they tried, changed, discovered and achieved.
↓
BELIEVE
Those moments of achievement build confidence, independence and self-belief.

More Than Following a Recipe

A Bake N Play session might involve making pizza, bread or cupcakes, but the recipe is only part of the experience.

A pizza can become an enterprise challenge.
Measuring ingredients can become practical maths.
Watching dough transform can become scientific enquiry.
Planning within a budget can develop financial literacy.
Working as a team can reveal leadership, communication and different individual strengths.

Children may think they're baking. We know they're learning through doing.

Designed for Education

Our approach has been developed through working directly with children in educational settings and can support learning and development across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.

Depending on the programme, experiences can support:

Design & Technology • Maths • Science • Literacy • Geography • History • PSHE • Financial Literacy • Enterprise • Communication • Teamwork • Problem-Solving • Personal Development

Whether delivered through an after-school club, curriculum enrichment programme or hands-on baking workshop, the principle remains the same:

The outcome comes first. Baking brings it to life.
