Bake N Play by Dolce Senso
After-School Cooking Clubs – FAQs for Schools
Everything your school needs to know about bringing Bake N Play to your pupils.
At Bake N Play by Dolce Senso, we believe that an after-school club should offer more than an enjoyable activity. It should give children opportunities to grow in confidence, develop independence, explore new ideas and discover what they are capable of.
We also understand that schools need enrichment providers who are reliable, professional and easy to work with.
That's why we have designed our after-school programmes to be meaningful for children, valuable for schools and straightforward to manage.
Below are answers to the questions we are most frequently asked by schools.
Facilities, Bookings, Payments
It's simple! Contact us to arrange an introductory
conversation. We do offer a free demo session.
We will discuss your school's requirements, available
days, preferred age groups, facilities and the number of children you would
like to accommodate.
Once we agree on the arrangements, our team will help
organise the launch, including parent bookings, staffing, equipment and
programme planning.
Our aim is to make the process as easy as possible for
your school.
No specialist kitchen is required!
One of the biggest misconceptions about cooking clubs is
that schools need fully equipped kitchens.
Our programmes are designed to run in ordinary school classrooms or halls, ideally with access to water.
We bring the ingredients, utensils and equipment needed for the activities. Depending on the recipe, children may prepare their
creations at school and complete the cooking or baking process at home with
their families.
This means children can engage in the practical food education in more depth and make the whole experience more meaningful instead.
Our approach is designed to make the entire experience stress-free for schools, parents and children.
We take care of everything, from the initial setup and parent bookings to the smooth running of weekly sessions. This includes staffing, ingredients, equipment, lesson planning and ongoing club management.
Your school provides the space, and we take care of the rest, allowing you to offer high-quality, meaningful enrichment without adding to your team's workload.
No. We understand how busy school administration teams already are.
Bake N Play manages the parent booking and payment process directly through our online booking system.
Parents book their children's places and communicate with our team regarding enrolments and payments.
This helps reduce the administrative workload for your school.
Our clubs usually run once a week after school, with each
session lasting approximately one hour, but we are happy to discuss a longer
session in case parents prefer longer childcare.
Programmes typically follow a 10-week term, although we discuss dates and arrangements with each school individually.
We work around your school timetable wherever possible.
We go beyound the recipes
Children come to make delicious recipes. What they learn
goes far beyond cooking.
Each session is designed around a learning purpose, challenge or discovery.
Cooking and baking become engaging ways of exploring Maths, Science, Geography, Design & Technology, healthy eating and practical life skills.
Without feeling like they are attending another lesson, children develop confidence, independence, creativity, resilience, communication, teamwork and problem-solving.
We want children to leave each session feeling proud of what they have achieved and increasingly confident in what they can do for
themselves.
Our programmes are designed to complement several
important school priorities:
- Personal
development: Building confidence, independence, resilience and
responsibility. - Belonging
and inclusion: Providing opportunities for children to make friends,
contribute and feel valued. - Pupil
engagement: Creating enjoyable experiences that encourage positive
connections with school. - Curriculum
enrichment: Bringing classroom subjects to life through practical
experiences. - Healthy
lifestyles: Encouraging curiosity about food, nutrition and informed food
choices. - Social
development: Strengthening communication, teamwork, leadership and
cooperation.
These experiences can contribute to the wider enrichment
and personal development opportunities considered within Ofsted's education
inspection framework.
We have programmes designed for EYFS, KS1 and KS2.
Activities, equipment, instructions and learning challenges are adapted to children's ages and abilities.
